Maybe God

Wide is the gate to destruction

Narrow to life

Great is the temptation to scapegoat

Small to sacrifice

This is where we lose ourselves

Where are we found

When we lose ourselves to destruction

Aren't we losing ourselves to ourselves

When we lose ourselves to life

Aren't we truly losing ourselves

Don't we find our true selves in losing ourselves

Do we have two selves separate but the same

Do we have an animalistic self of self preservation

And a separate self of purity and sacrifice

Are these selves caught inside us fighting for our voice

Or do they fight for something more

Our very lives

Do we not lose ourselves to greed and power

Or is this finding our darkest selves

Do we not find our true selves in giving and sacrifice

Or is this losing ourselves

Isn't it a bit of both

Isn't it a paradox

Isn't it divine

Sublime even

Do we live for less and sacrifice more

Or live for more and sacrifice less

Is less, more and more, less

Is it more or less the same

Do we find more in the less we have in sacrificing more

Do we find less in the more we have in greed and power

What is this comedy of life

What is this paradox

What is the answer

Or is it all relative

Relative to where we are

Meeting us where we're at

Maybe that is truth

Maybe that is God
